increasing importance of mobile user experience

SimplyHired is providing job trend graphs since 2006. I got curious, and tried to compare web UI design to mobile UI design hiring trends. This is US only, so we have the weak dollar and the economic slowdown represented in this graph.

Mobile UI design jobs (not developer jobs) have increased by 33%, but web UI jobs have decreased 11% in the same time period. We’re seeing numbers even steeper than that for client work.

You know some of the top mobile designers in the US, Canada, UK, and Japan will be at Design For Mobile September 22-24, right?

  1. Hi Barbara,

It still amazes me when I talk to mobile content publishers who say they dont want to spend $250 a month on the Amethon Mobile Analytics solution but dont have a clue as to the top 3 screen resolutions visiting their mobile site.

A well defined UI and an enjoyable user experience would have to the most crticial component apart from content in getting someone to ‘want’ to come back to your mobile content.

    Cheers,
