Abandoning pixel-perfect design does not mean abandoning precision in design, nor abandoning attention to UI detail. It means designing, from the beginning, for different screen sizes including those you can not predict.

"Pixel-perfect layouts cause design problems." Yea, Adobe and Apple have gotten it wrong with their attention to UI detail and need to follow the Microsoft project plan that got us the magnificent windows mobile platform. What ridiculous post.

Actually, Photoshop CS4 is out. I haven't used it, but there it is. The latest version of Elements is 7 on windows, but 6 (CS3-based) on mac. I hear that the biggest differences are integration with the adobe online tools, which I could care about.

Back when it was Photoshop-LE, and early in Elements days, it was indeed a Photoshop-lite, and worked great. You didn't get CMYK editing, and some other such features, which was fine for online-only folks, for example. Now I think the interface is way too far into "too easy to use to be useful" and find it hard to recommend. Though it's also hard to get into $600 (or whatever) for full PS.

I used to be an ardent fan of Photoshop Elements http://www.frogmix.com/search/photoshop+element . I have version 3. 4 wasn't quite compelling enough. Now that CS3 is out, are we going to see a Mac update or is this it? I cannot imagine uploading my photos to the server every time I want to edit them. Yuk. If it's limited to low res, then definitely not.
